As many of you are no doubt aware, the northeastern coast of Japan was hit by an earthquake which registered an 8.9 on the Richter scale, reportedly the worst in Japan’s history. The earthquake triggered a tsunami as well, which, if you’ve been watching the news, caused an incredible amount of damage.
Most of you know I live in Japan and I’ve gotten a lot of concerned messages between the time this started and the time of this writing. Thank you all for your concern. I’m fine, I live in Kagoshima prefecture, which is in southern Japan. We didn’t experience any tremors over here but we do presently have a tsunami warning in place. This warning is only for up to two meters (around six feet) and is more a concern for the eastern coast of Kagoshima’s Osumi peninsula. I’m on the west coast of that peninsula and up in the bay, and I live on the second floor, so there should be nothing to worry about on my end.
